Why is Total Alkalinity Important?

Recommended Total Alkalinity Levels for Pools

  • Ideal Range: 80-120 ppm
  • For pools with high calcium hardness: Maintain TA levels closer to 80 ppm to reduce scaling risk.

How to Adjust Total Alkalinity

  1. To Raise TA: Add sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Use a pool calculator to determine the correct amount.
